How to improve SEO with keywords
Optimizing content for search engines is a real frustration for many people but it’s a fact that search engines have a bias for text. Search engines need content and that means text. You might have the world’s best widget site but if you don’t have any text in your site, you probably won’t rank well.
It’s true that the search engines also give a lot of weight to links from other sites pointing to your site and in some cases that can overcome a lack of text but if you’re in a competitive business, if a lot of other sites a competing for the key words you’re after, then you need to do everything you can to compete and that really means you need text.
PDF and images are not bad things, but you must understand that if you use them as a substitute for text, you are hurting your SEO
You have to give the search engine something to work with, something to index and that means readable text which can’t be in images or in PDF files, word documents but the text inside you HTML files.
One more important thing is that the text must be of the right kind and properly formatted.
It’s important to know how to improve SEO with keywords. Most sites are full of wasted opportunities, places with good keywords could have been used but instead they turn up missing.
Remember the golden rule:
THINK KEYWORDS WHEN YOU CREATE HEADINGS FOR SEO.
Ask yourself “Can I put keywords in here?’’ when writing your body text.
Make sure you include keywords. Recognize that there has to be a balance here. You can’t put so many keywords making your content look clumsy. It’s rare to find a site that doesn’t have plenty of keyword opportunities but the question is
What should be my keyword density for SEO?
People who worry that their site will be penalized by the search engines if they use to high-density. There are tools designed to measure pages keyword density, telling you what percentage is the words on a page a made up with your keywords.
Search for the term keyword density if you’re interested in playing with these tools but personally I don’t believe in them. I believe if it sounds clumsy, you’ve gone too far and if it doesn’t you’ll be okay with the search engines and sound okay to people reading the page.
What are the best places to put keywords for SEO?
Why have the heading that says tips when you can have a heading SEO tips! Or instead of Latest news say Latest SEO news!
This is just an example of how you can incorporate keywords for SEO.
The best place to insert your keywords for SEO is the heading tags.
These tell the search engines that the text is important which is understandable. After all you don’t put irrelevant terms in the headings. So the search engines have every reason to think headings contained significant terms.
I recommend that you use H1 tag for the primary heading and then H2, H3 tags for low-level headings.
You could always use your style sheets to make the headings look anywhere you want of course. You also want the keywords scattered within the body text too.
For example, let’s say you’re optimizing a page for the phrase “SEO tips’’
Don’t just write “Great tips’’, write “Great SEO tips’’ .
You want the phrase in the headings of course but you also want to make sure the words appear in the body text a number of times.
When you are optimizing the page for a particular keyword phrase, you would like to see the term, perhaps 15 times more, scattered throughout the page depending on how much content is on the page.
You can also stress your keywords in some way by including them in bulleted items, bold text them or italicize them.
Once again when you’re building a page content don’t forget it’s all about keywords!!
